曙 (Akebono) - Dawn; Daybreak; Beginning

So I'm currently sat at my desk over two weeks after arriving in Japan, and I'm only just starting my blog which pretty much sums me up. In fact I'm so used to putting things off or staying within my comfort zone that had you have told me a year ago that I would be here I would have laughed. Actually I wouldn't have laughed because that's mean but yeah... Anyway I'm here now in Tokyo for a year as an international exchange student studying Japanese from level 0. For a Zoology student it's a bit of a stretch but Japan has been on top of my travel list from the beginning, and so when I was given the opportunity to study and live here I flipping well took it!
I realise that this year is going to be one of the most challenging, crazy and stressful things I've ever done but it's also going to be one of the most awe-inspiring, rewarding and most memorable adventures too. Before I left a lot of people asked me if I was nervous but I wasn't and you might take that as naivety but it's something I've wanted to do for a very long time. Through my faith I've gained the drive and confidence I needed and now I'm here. If you're passionate about something please please pursue it because it really is possible. Don't give up. Don't be afraid to be naive. Don't let negative thoughts or other people's opinions dictate what you do with your life. Don't let money stop you either, make it work.
